FRSC Warns Motorists Against Drunk Driving
Speaking to journalists in Calabar at the flagged off of the 2015 ember month road safety mega rally, Asst. Corp Marshal, Augustine Aipoh, who represented Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of Officer of the Commission, Boboye Oyeyemi, urged motorists to avoid taking alcoholic drinks while on steering.
Aipoh stated that FRSC was fully prepared to drastically reduce road carnage by 90 per cent, adding that a greater percentage of road crashes were caused by human factor.
The corps marshal stated that the rally was organised in line with the commission’s mandate to reduce road crashes and its attendant fatalities by 50 per cent so as to make Nigeria a better place to live.
He said though some roads need rehabilitation, motorists on their parts should drive cautiously in order to avoid any form of accident.
Also speaking, Cross River State Sector Commander, Ikechukwu Lawrence Igwe warned that the command would not hesitate to deal with unruly drivers, who violate road traffic laws.
He said the time has come when motorists take their destinies in their hands by been cautious and avoid reckless driving to stay alive.
