RT Briscoe Partners UNILAG on Auto Workshop

With the objective of improving vehicle service, maintenance and repairs in Nigeria, renowned automotive dealer, RT Briscoe has collaborated with University of Lagos (Unilag) to launch a state-of-the-art auto workshop at the heart of the institution.

Speaking at the launch of the workshop, Managing Director and Chief Executive of RT Briscoe plc, Seyi Onajide disclosed that the automobile garage, which is a joint venture between the university and the dealer intends to bring the ‘gawn and town’ together.

He stated that the aim was to provide quality service to corporate fleet owners, institutional and individual vehicles owners and to improve maintenance culture in the country.

According to him, the opening of the 10 work bay facility, refurbished to ensure that at least more than 15 vehicles can be worked upon simultaneously followed years of discussions between the University authorities and the publicly quoted company.

Onajide stressed that the duo can never go wrong in a situation where the business conglomerate is bringing its almost 60 years of automotive engineering to bear with so many decades of academic experience and excellence of the university.

He said: “We have our expertise in different areas, but with a synergy of bringing those two together, you can be rest assured that what we are going to get from this joint venture is a combination of academic excellence, professional competences and value driven to our discerning customers.
“In our usual tradition, the same quality of service in all RT Briscoe facilities across Nigeria will be replicated at the workshop.”

The workshop is also expected to provide combine vocational services, practical experiences and training for all students of mechanical engineering that chose to specialise in automobile engineering”.

He said that the new partnership was the beginning of what lies ahead, as the organisation hopes to replicate such initiative across country.
Commending the initiative, the institution’s Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management), Prof. Duro Oni, said the new workshop was a marriage of convenience between the University and RT Briscoe
The institution noted that the initiative would be of great benefit to mankind, particularly the school community.
